played by Max Schreck in Nosferatu
The vampire as parasite.  A far cry from the suave, dapper vampire of Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee, Max Schreck's Count Orlok is gaunt, rat-like, and disgusting.  His behavior is like that of a drug addict: appalling and even a bit pathetic.
